Who She Is
Lisa Orbé-Austin, PhD is a licensed psychologist, executive coach, and organizational consultant with over two decades of experience helping high-achieving professionals move past self-doubt and into confident, decisive leadership. She is co-founder of Dynamic Transitions Psychological Consulting, and co-author of Own Your Greatness, Your Unstoppable Greatness, and Your Child’s Greatness. She’s given a TEDx talk on imposter syndrome, contributed to the American Psychological Association’s volume on the Imposter Phenomenon, and been featured in The New York Times, NBC News, Forbes, and Harvard Business Review, among others.
What She Focuses On
While Lisa and Richard both work across imposter syndrome, career development, and leadership coaching, Lisa takes the lead on the practice’s imposter syndrome work — it’s the area she’s built her research, writing, and speaking around, and it’s personal to her. Her approach is grounded in her training as both a clinician and a researcher: understanding not just how imposter syndrome shows up for a client, but why, and what specifically will move them out of it. She’s especially focused on the systemic and organizational dynamics — toxic cultures, biased feedback loops, exclusionary structures — that keep capable people doubting themselves long after they’ve proven what they can do.
Her Style
Lisa works directly. She’s not going to spend six sessions circling a problem you both already see — she’ll name it, and then get to work with you on changing it. Clients experience their work with her as a genuine partnership: she stays engaged, keeps them accountable to the goals they’ve set, and pushes for visible movement, not just insight for its own sake.
That drive toward outcomes isn’t incidental — it’s the throughline of how Lisa practices. She’s always believed a client should walk away from working with her having gotten more than they expected, not less, and building a practice that consistently delivers on that has become both a professional standard and a personal mission for her. She wants clients to leave not just feeling better, but demonstrably further along — a promotion landed, a hard conversation finally had, a decision made instead of endlessly deferred.
